New Friends That Need A Few Things

They aren’t banana’s, ghosts, ghouls or goblins. Some could be cowgirls! But the other day some of them looked like they were!

Those of you that follow some of my personal posts know that my Mom is temporarily in a nursing home.  There are other residents there of course, some indefinitely others permanently. Each one of these people have touched our lives.  Each one truly holds a very special meaning to each member of my family.

In this picture above you can see Mom, in the yellow shirt. She was aiming for a vampire but I think she looks a little more like a ghoul. She took 2nd place in the costume contest. Banana took first place, and the ghost took third. However each participant was a real winner, and each one got a prize!

I’m putting together a little something to tell each of our new friends what they mean to everyone. On November 25th there is a Thanksgiving Family Dinner.

I love hearing their stories, their tidbits of life and memories. I could listen all day to them telling us about life before we even knew what life was. I hold such respect for our new friends. I know some are reading this. 🙂 And don’t forget that WE LOVE YOU!

Below is a picture of Cyndi, she mad this log house, complete with outhouse and wooden fence – she used real wood on the fence, real rocks on the bench. She built this awesome home by herself. I asked her if she would build me a real house, life sized for us all to live in! I think it would take her a lot of time. If I remember correctly each shingle on the house she built was an individual wooden tiny shingle.

I have tons of other pictures to share. But I’m going to save them for later on. The inspiration and love that we have been taught over the last month has just been phenomenal. And even when Mom returns home, we’ll still be going to visit our newest friends.

If you can help and donate to the nursing home, please consider doing so. If you would like to refer someone that may be interested in sending something to brighten their day please feel free to have them contact me. I’m attempting to put together some nice things to take on Nov. 25th, to show them our thanks for being who they are. Themselves! Some things that I KNOW that they can use are below.

Needs, wants and useables: blankets, hygiene products, perfumes, throw blankets, socks, slipper socks, non-slip shoes, shower shoes, shower organizers, write-on water-proof labels, permanent markers, crayons, coloring books, craft supplies, craft kits, pillows, cushions, wheel chair and/or walker bags/carriers, visual items, room decorations, wreath hangers, door decorations,cd’s, movies, cd players, music devices, clocks, non-perishable snacks, and flavored drinks.

Those are just some that I can think of off the top of my head, if anyone else thinks of anything please feel free to leave a comment here or drop me an email.

If you don’t mind – give this post a tweet.
