I love to read.  It can be anything really but lately I’ve enjoyed some nonfiction works and this is one of them.  Growing up Amish, is about Ira Wagler living the Amish ways until he abruptly leaves at 17.  This biography keeps you turning the pages and it’s hard to put down.

Ira’s writing style is both refreshing and easily allows you to form pictures in your mind.  Ira was born in a small Old Order Amish community of Aylmer, Ontario.  The rules and restrictions became too much for Ira and he sets out on an adventure to find himself.

It is neat to read about the Amish way, but their way of life is hard.  They love their familes just as we love ours, and growing up isn’t easy but I think it’s even tougher growing up Amish.  Reading this book will give you great insight into the Amish way of life.

I was supplied with a copy of this book for review. All opinions are my own.
