Pictures taken 2/17/13 of Little Traverse Bay in Petoskey. I tell Rose a lot that when the lakes freeze here it’s like extra acerage to Michigan. Here you can see Lake Michigan partially frozen and people on the ice, fishing with their fish shanties. But frozen lakes aren’t limited to fishing, there is snowmobiling, and walking just for the fun of it while going up and down over mounds of snow.
Picture #1 is of the Petoskey break wall.
Picture #2, The Petoskey Water Front Docks in the Summer are full of boats and people strolling.
We took this picture to show how far the lake is frozen from shore. Harbor Springs and Petoskey make up Little Traverse Bay. As you can see it’s long stretch. In the summer the bay is full of boaters, swimmers, and almost any water sport activity you can think of. In the pictures of the break wall if you look to the left you can see a few specks. Those are of the fish shanties. I wanted to get a good picture of them to show you but they were just too far out for our camera.
