I joined the Shaklee 180, take your shape in a whole new direction, program to help me lose weight but also because I was in a bad habit that had me and my doctor concerned. Before starting the plan I had a complete physical, and by complete I mean complete with all the blood work. I have had a thyroid problem since I had my daughter almost 20 years ago (dang I’m getting old). When my paperwork came back it was still on the low side with medication. My bad habit? Not eating. People don’t realize that you have to eat all day long to keep your metabolism going.
My general days went
- 2 cups of coffee as early as possible
- No breakfast
- No lunch
- Some water and Diet Coke in between
- Dinner and by this time I was starving
With Shaklee 180, I have been given their Shaklee 180™ Energizing Smoothees (45 Meals), in Vanilla, Chocolate, and Strawberry flavors. I really loathed to try it. I decided to start with the vanilla first because it’s not my favorite flavor and I wanted to get it over and done with (I have to use one up before opening another flavor, it’s just a stupid mind thing of my own) I have been adapting this diet to work with what we have on hand in our house. One of the shakes I’ve been making a lot is:
- 2 scoops of Shaklee Powder Mix
- 1 Greek fruit flavored yogurt container
- 1/2 cup 2% Milk
- 1 cup of Water
- and I blended well with a hand mixer.
One of the ones that is used for making shakes. I looked at the mixture and really had a dreadful feeling. I’m a flavor person. If I don’t like it, well it generally won’t stay down. Did I say I probably looked at it for about 10 minutes? To my huge surprise and relief it was good! I mean I really like it. That has been my lunch for the last few weeks. It’s such a cinch for me to throw it together and drink it (flavor is everything I tell ya) with a glass of water.
I was also given Meal-in-a-bar (14 meals), in Peanut Butter and Blueberry flavors. Both flavors I love! I was first introduced to the Shaklee Blueberry Meal Bars when I attended the Mitten Moms Conference here in Petoskey. Our fearless leader Sommer couldn’t say enough good about the program. These have been a quick breakfast. I still almost forget, ok well, I’ve forgotten a few times so now I lay the bar on the counter by the coffee machine so I remember to eat breakfast.
Shaklee, doesn’t ban meals or food. It works to help you make better choices. Depending on your weight and what you need to lose is the calorie plan you work with. Dinner at our house is a family affair, it’s the time we share our day’s and what’s going on in our lives. Since I don’t want to change this I eat a sensible dinner with my family. I’m working to make healthier choices and eat less at dinner time.
I was also provided the Metabolic Boost (30 day supply), Energizing Tea (28 servings), and Snack Bars (10 snacks). I haven’t gotten a hang of these yet but I’m working on it. As I was reminded I didn’t get fat over night so I won’t lose the fat over night. My mom says normal people don’t forget to eat and it’s just plain lazy. I say I’m too busy and when I finally find a minute on the way to the school or taking my daughter to work, I remember and it’s too late, or for lunch. I get so absorbed in getting the most work I can done before the kids come home I forget.
Shaklee provided me with an app for this nutrition plan that helps me count my calories and exercise (which hasn’t been much because it’s so cold outside). On my phone I’m able to tap in what I’ve had on the Shaklee 180 plan and put in the food. Counting calories has been difficult for me because I would lose track or I couldn’t make sense of the food labels. Shaklee’s app has helped with that. You’re able to tap in what you’ve eaten and the calories OR search through their menu of common foods. It’s easy breezy when I’m waiting in a parking lot to get the kids.
Since March 1st I’ve lost 4 pounds. Four pounds lost is better than four pounds gained! I have found eating on a regular basis I do get hungry and when I eat the meal bar or the shake my hunger goes away. I feel better during the day and I’m hoping as time goes on I fix my bad habits and change to better ones.
