This is my third month on the Shaklee180 program, and it has been getting easier and easier. I’m breaking bad habits I’ve developed over the years. I’m getting more exercise and I’m feeling much better about myself. While growing up both of my parents were over weight. None of us kids were though, in fact I was extremely thin. I gained my weight after I had my first baby. I’m not blaming it on her but my body went through a lot of changes, and my thyroid started testing low. Then I was on the run and not eating properly or getting the exercise I needed.
I have put a lot of thought into what my weight has done to my kids. I don’t ever want to be the cause of them being obese. Thankfully, they aren’t. One of the things I have always stressed in our family is eating healthy. We eat a wide variety of vegetables, I encourage them to eat vegetables of all colors to get all the natural vitamins they need. I have been buying whole grain pasta and breads and discouraging our whole family from eating white bread (HUGE change here). The guys in the house are not fully on board with whole grain bread but they’re coming around.
Cooking is becoming more of a family affair. We’ve never been a family of convenience foods but we have been a carb family. On nights we have to run we all start chopping veggies. I’ve learned you don’t have to have lettuce to have a salad. A heaping amount of chopped raw veggies with a tad of dressing and piece of chicken and we’re good to go.
We have been taking small hikes as a family, playing basketball, baseball, and trying to work every type of “fun you don’t know you’re exercising” activity in to our daily routines. Our games of pig have turned into wrestling for the ball.
From January 1st, I am down 40 lbs. I’m floored. Getting started was hard, but now I’m into a routine and as I lose more and more weight I’m finding more and more exercise I want to do. I’ve always loved strenuous exercise but as I gained weight, I lost that drive. I have taken down the boxing gloves, I’ve taken out the jump rope (I suck at this and need a LOT more practice), and I’m searching out kick boxing bags.
I want to share a couple of pictures. The picture in the pink was taken on 03/01/13 when I started the Shaklee180 program and the picture in black was taken this last weekend. I know it’s hard to tell a difference but I’ll tell you I feel a huge difference.
