My Grammy Highlights!

As most of you know I’m a music lover.  I couldn’t stand for the music to stop playing in my head.  It may just drive me insane, but my husband?  Well, he loves music but he would rather listen than see, and he doesn’t play.  So I’m on my own when it comes to the Grammys.

Paul and Ringo.  I love them, and I loved all the Beatles both together and separate.  They were quite the masterminds of music but as I stress to my children who I emphatically insist they KNOW music history even if they can’t play it, the real treat is that they each went on for a successful solo career as well as groups.  Did you see how good Ringo looks?  Did you see Paul’s piano?  My gosh I love that it was so unique and fun (oh he looks good too!).    It’s sad what came between them but it was nice to see Yoko in the audience enjoying the music.  I never thought I would ever say that.  As history goes it hasn’t painted a very pretty picture of her.

Pink?  Holy $hit is all I can say.  Curvy Magazine made a comment about her thickness.  Let me tell you that girl has one hell of a toned body.  I watched part of the red carpet and seriously people are so obsessed with their looks and weight.  I agree, you need to look good and should do you best but lay off the weight issues.  It makes us all unique (coming from a fatty!).  Pink puts on a REAL show and can sing to boot.  I adore her and I really like her down to earth take no prisoner’s attitude.

Lorde.  I don’t even know what to say about her and her talent.  She’s new and unique to the music world and she is on my list of CDs to get (my list is endless people).  I love when people use their voice to create their style.

I love Blurred Lines, Robin Thicke (at least he didn’t look like Beetle Juice) not so much but who can’t love the show he put on with Chicago!  It was fab and since Brass Instruments are my fav to play even over the piano I was psyched!  Did you know Chicago is touring?

My husband and I are both Metalica fans, which is surprising because my husband isn’t a fan of head banging rock.  I liked their performance.

In the past I have been impressed with but was NOT this time with Taylor Swift, Katy Perry or the dudes with helmets.  Helmet dudes aka Daft Punk, you are so copying Blue Man Crew from eons ago.  Oh wait that’s dating myself.

I really want to compliment LL Cool J on his hosting.  The Grammys should keep him for as long as they can.  He is awesome, heart felt, kind, and kick ass snarky all wrapped in one.  I just love that in people.  I love how they organize the performances to bring all of our favorite artists and introducing us to ones we’ve never met.

Lastly I want to note and this is not Grammy related.  Happy Birthday Steve Perry.  You don’t know how many more you will have and you need to be more grateful.  If you REALLY loved Kellie live your remaining years to the fullest and doing the most good you possibly can.  You know you can leave more than a musical footprint behind.  Enjoy music, enjoy life, you have opportunities people would love to have.

I love LL Cool J as a host, he is so classy. My only complaint is that I wish they would stop classifying Taylor Swift as a country artist!

I didn’t really watch this year, but it sounds like it was fun! I’ve always loved LL Cool J, too…

I watched the Grammys for the first time in ages this year! I enjoyed most of the performances. I though Pink was incredible, and you’re right- anyone who was paying attention could clearly see that the lady is TONED like mad! I didn’t know a whole lot about Lorde, but I am loving ‘Royals,’ and agree with you- she’s pretty unique. I loved L.L.’s hosting, and really enjoyed seeing Carole King perform, as well!

I agree with you completely about Curvy Magazine and Pink. They seem to be featuring quite a few women of late who seem pretty skinny to me. That’s fine if they want to say someone is a supporter of fat acceptance or gave an interview about weight issues, but just putting a thin person’s picture up on a page called Curvy muddles the issue. Are young girls going to see Pink as “curvy” and compare themselves to her and feel they’re overweight if they aren’t considerably thinner than her? I salute the work Curvy is doing overall, but it’s a little perplexing. Your (very) curvy friend, Lynn

I also like Pink’s performance since she was singing at perfect notes while dancing, not all singer can do that.
