When I went to Ohio recently, I had the opportunity to stay at the Salt Fork State Park Lodge. This beautiful lodge is located in the heart of Ohio near Salt Fork Lake. My first opportunity was a pontoon boat ride on this beautiful man made lake. We got to see the Kennedy Stone House Museum, which I will share more about with you. The panoramic view of the lake and shore is breath taking and with the upcoming Fall colors will make it the perfect family destination.

Salt Fork

The Salt Fork State Park features a lodge, chalet cabins, lakeside cabins, and hillside cabins. These beautiful cabins provide their guests with modern conveineces at the same time providing a rustic experience. For families like mine who have boys that enjoy camping and gals that enjoy a more modern approach these are the perfect getaway. The cabins I saw had a beautiful view of the lake and areas for the family to play, cookout, and have a fun time.

Breakfast At Salt Fork Lodge

Myself? I would prefer to stay at the Salt Fork Lodge & Conference Center. This lodge is simply stunning. My room opened out with French doors to the Pool and outdoor play area. Their guestrooms all offer rustic charm and come with a variety of beds and arrangements to fit your family’s needs.

Lodging at Salt Fork includes:
Central Air
Free Parking
Daily Housekeeping

Lodge Services & Amenities include:
Wireless high speed internet
Full-service dining room

Indoor and outdoor pools
Fitness center
Tennis, Volleyball, Basketball, Shuffleboard, Horseshoes, and Baseball diamond
14 miles of mapped hiking trails
2 marinas with boat rentals
45-passenger pontoon boat
Water skiing, Sailing, Canoeing, Fishing, Boat rentals
Movie rentals and board games
Outdoor bonfire pit
Sledding, cross country skiing, and snowmobiling (seasonal)
Rock climbing
Outdoor children’s playground
Sandy beach
Salt Fork also provides naturalist programs and fun organized activities for the whole family. Their game room includes pool tables, air hockey and numerous video and interactive games. I simply can list all there is for the whole family to do without ever even leaving the Salt Fork Ohio State Park. My whole family would enjoy a stay. We’re currently working on our 2015 vacations and this is an option we all want to do.

While visiting we had food that was fabulous.  The portions are enormous and would fill even my oldest 6’6″ son.  They have a full service menus for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, as well as catering to their conference room.

We were treated to an outdoor bonfire complete with S’mores and stories of Big Foot.  It is said that Big Foot resides in the Salt Fork State Park.  There is even a Bigfoot Conference in May!  We got to speak and quiz the naturalists and my friend Kerri even wanted to go on a Bigfoot Hunt.  I was having none of it.

This park is very large and full of paved trails for enjoying the nature around you.  Whether you’re looking for Bigfoot or would just like to enjoy the outdoors (praying you DO NOT run into Bigfoot), this is the place for the whole family.

This looks like a great place to visit if we ever make it that far from CA with our RV. You never know, it could happen! Thanks for all the info!

I LOVE going to state parks! We go to them all the time when we travel. We went to them in OR and FL this past year when we traveled there, and go to them in our home state of MN all the time!
