In July our then feral but now tamed kitty had kittens. Our he was a she and we were quite shocked. They have turned out to be quite a blessing. She left 2 kittens in our barn and kept 3 with her in my parents barn. We kept 2 kittens Izzy who we raised by hand and Vanilla who was one kept with her but very sick when we found him. He was definitely the runt of the litter.
Our vet was amazed that we were able to keep 2 kittens from day one alive. It wasn’t easy and I have to thank Ellen, a fellow reader for her great advice. When we took mama and the kittens in to be spayed and neutered it was brought to our attention that Vanilla isn’t the runt any more. In fact he was over 10 lbs and Izzy was 6 lbs, mama only 7lbs.
Because of his illness Vanilla is not all there upstairs. His jumping skills aren’t great, his balancing well that too leaves a lot to be desired. Today he fell in the toilet. Ker Splash! The first thing he wanted to do was jump in my lap <insert ewwwww here>. I quickly pushed him down and expressed my displeasure, but immediately he jumped back in my lap. Mind you the cat is now over 12 lbs. He’s huge and just the sweetest but not so bright.
I guess my point is that these little fur babies have come a long way. The boy isn’t even a year old and big, he’s just the sweetest and loved very muchly, even if we have to chase him down to bathe him. They have grown so much and have turned into the lovingest kittens ever. The bring us laughs daily and are our entertainment.
