Last weekend I decided it was time to start decorating for Halloween. I’m not overly fond of Halloween but I love decorating for Fall. Sadly, this year I wasn’t able to find a Fall theme this year, so I caved and Quinn and I decided to decorate for Halloween.
First I started with our traditional Window Gel Decorations. While friends have told me these are cheezy, that they’re so tacky, etc. Our family has made a tradition of decorating our dining room slider. I find it fun to the the naysayers I say….. If they are so cheezy and tacky why is there such a great selection of them in the stores?
Next, my grandmother’s buffet. My grandmother passed her dining room furniture down to me and I love decorating it. It reminds me of her and my grandfather and all the happy times we had with them as children. While I hate candy corn it makes for a beautiful and cheap decoration. I gathered a variety of sugar candies and used them in my glass urns for a pop of color and holiday flair.
Snooping around the dollar store I found a black boa and some black roses with little glittery spiders. I put the boa in my little bird atrium and used a few black roses & spiders here and there to add a little more pizzazz.
The total for the decorations?
Candy Corns $8
Window Jellies $9
Dollar Store $3
Total $20
The fun I had with my son? Priceless!
We bought some decor for about $20 and plan to decorate this weekend!
Halloween is always a fun, family time. When my son was younger, we all went trick or treating together. Now, he’s older, it is a night of horror movies and plenty of yummy snacks! 🙂
I like the idea of using candy corn for decorating. I’m not a big fan of eating them.
