Home Alone: The Classic Illustrated Storybook

Who doesn’t remember the iconic Home Alone? That fun loving adventure of a family who leaves their son home alone by accident and together they learn the true meaning of Christmas.  Now, in honor of the Home Alone 25th Anniversary, Quirk Books is publishing Home Alone: The Classic Illustrated Storybook. Re-imagine with your family the story of this endearing Christmas fable.  This is truly and amazing storybook that will be treasured for years to come. The illustrations are beautiful and this has me digging out the movie for the whole family to see together.

Home Alone arrived in theaters 25 years ago, and it remains the #1 highest-grossing live-action comedy film of all time. Now, illustrator Kim Smith has reimagined the story as a classic Christmas fable—complete with bumbling burglars, brilliant booby-traps, and a little boy named Kevin who’s forced to fend for himself. Through a series of comic adventures, Kevin learns lessons about responsibility and the importance of family. With an amusing read-aloud story and enchanting, immersive illustrations, this charming adaptation can be enjoyed year after year alongside The Polar Express, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, and other Christmas storybook classics.

I like the scene where Kevin is asked by the check out lady “Are you here all by yourself?” and Kevin says “Ma’am I am eight years old. You think I would be here all alone? I don’t think so.”

I can’t recall a time when I was home alone as a youngster but I do recall the first time I left mine at home (the oldest only) and he called me like every five minutes. But that was good becasue if he had not called, I would have called him;)

I don’t really have any memories of being left home alone when I was younger & my kiddos are only 4.5 & 5.5. So, I’ll leave memories on the movie, Home Alone!!! It’s actually one of our favorite movies around here!!! The kids & I love it & when we’re in the car listening to Christmas music on the radio, they’re constantly saying, “HEEEYYY!!! MOM THIS SONG IS ON THE HOME ALONE MOVIE TOO!!!” 🙂

My favorite Home Alone memory is the first time we left our son home alone, he called us from his closet, hiding of course, because he thought he heard something downstairs. So we headed home, talking the whole time, & he was fine when we got home!

Home Alone is part of our Christmas tradition every year! We watch it at least 3 times in the week following Thanksgiving when all of our decorations are going up! It never fails to make me laugh when he slides on the ice stairs and I can never watch when he steps on the nail…ouch!
