And it all started with a review for Sony Music. People ask all the time if I use or benefit from products I review and my answer is YES! One of my favorite new artists is Peter Hollens, but he’s not only my favorite he’s my kids favorite too. He captivated our attention when I received his self titled CD for review.
Next came the YouTube searches and the realization that he’s made amazing videos to go along with these amazing a cappella music. Everything the music for him to sing to? It’s made by his voice.
We now stream his channel via YouTube on a regular basis and he’s constantly loading more videos. He also works with other artists and will introduce you to a whole new world of music.
I cannot believe that one mans voice can do and achieve so much with his voice. His voice is his instrument and people that can achieve this amaze me. So I had to do it. Yep, I tuned into Youtube, which I don’t do often and I’m speechless. As a writer you need to put thoughts and feelings into words but I can’t because what he does is with his voice is THAT amazing! If you only buy one album or CD this year this is the one you want!
One-man a cappella vocalist and video producer Peter Hollens has been releasing videos on YouTube for over three years to overwhelming feedback. His videos have over 71 million views and his YouTube channel has 800,000-plus subscribers. Needless to say, it’s been a long time coming for this talent and his loyal following – on October 27, Hollens releases his self-titled debut album on Portrait/Sony Music Masterworks.
“The album is a mix of everything I love musically from classic folk to pop to soundtrack and Broadway melodies. I’m so excited to share this music with the world!” says Peter Hollens.
Recorded and produced by Hollens, the 13-track album features seven songs from his catalog in addition to six new songs. Included are songs from fan-favorite videos like ‘Misty Mountains’ and ‘I See Fire,’ plus an original composition ‘Ashland’s Song’ written about Hollens’ newborn son. The album will also feature collaborations with artists like Brian Wilson of The Beach Boys on ‘Our Special Love,’ Jackie Evancho on ‘Hallelujah,’ Lindsey Stirling on ‘Skyrim (Main Theme) and Avi Kaplan of Pentatonix on ‘Black Is The Color of My True Love’s Hair.’
Hollens began his a cappella career in 1999 co-founding the University of Oregon’s award-winning a cappella group, On The Rocks. In 2010, the group was featured on NBC’s The Sing Off Season 2.
