It’s been a very mild fall here in Michigan, but cold weather will come sooner or later and with that comes huge heating bills.  If you have a warm home, blankets, mittens, gloves and all the things needed to stay warm you’re blessed.  If you have extra please help those that won’t be warm.

THAW’s 7th Annual Week of Warmth is HERE! The week will kick off with THAW’s  signature Night of Warm Hearts on Friday, November 11, 2016, followed by the Neighborhood Energy Efficiency Day and Hallelujah for Heat on Saturday, November 12, 2016 and culminating with the 4th Annual Gift of Warmth phone bank hosted by WDIV Local 4 on Wednesday, November 16, 2016!  During the Week of Warmth it is our goal to raise and distribute $1 million in assistance to Michigan households in need.Visit thawfund.org for all the event details or to donate to keep a family warm!

This sounds like a great idea. You’re right, the mild Fall isn’t going to last, & even a mild Winter is still cold.

Michigan has had a mild winter so far but it’s starting to chill again. It’s sad to hear of accidents in the news that are cause by people simply trying to stay warm. I encourage everyone if you are warm enough to donate warm wearables to your local shelters. If you can find local agencies that help those in need with heating in your area and donate.

If you’re in need? Contact your heating company, many have plans in place to help you. Many local agencies that can help are your local Department of Social Services, Churches, The Salvation Army and American Red Cross.
