Dear Hollywood I Do NOT Support You Nor The GOP or Dems

Dear Hollywood,

I do not support you. I do not support your ideas, your political affiliations and morals. I do not support those of you that promoted Clinton and I do not support those of you that promoted Trump.  I do not support that because you have a stage and fans that you should be the ones telling us what to do, what to buy and how to vote.

I used to love the glitz and glamour of your award shows and ceremonies but I don’t now. When I tune in to your movies, music, tv shows and award shows I am looking for time away from the real world and you don’t give me that anymore. The more I’ve been able to sit and think about it, I want to support those of us that really work hard in the world and aren’t rewarded.

I have changed my way of thinking and I support stay at home moms, single moms that work hard to support for their families, dads that go to work in jobs they hate, to support their family and give them the best they can, single dads doing raising a gaggle of well adjusted girls that will have a healthy look on life. I support single men and women trying to make their way in the world. I support people of all races, sexual orientation and religions.

I do NOT support people trying to harm others, or that are mean to others because of how they voted. I do not believe liberals are bad humans, just as I don’t believe conservatives are bad humans, I believe in opinions that differ. I do however believe that fanatics, violent protesters and people that don’t realize that there are laws and rules, are opening the door to the fall of our democracy.

Just because we are Democracy and a country that has opened its doors to immigrants, all religions, and people of every ethnicity does not mean it’s a free pass to steam roll us. My dad’s family came through Ellis Island, legally. They were properly vetted for the time (1913). They were not looked upon with favor because they were poor and from Eastern Europe, but the persevered and worked hard. They didn’t have lovely and cushy jobs, my Hungarian grandfather worked in the mines, he contributed to the USA as best he could, manning a radio for his town during WWII because he was too old to serve. My grandmother’s family was was from Czechoslovakia and they too contributed to this beautiful country’s democracy and losing one son in WWII.

I take pride in my heritage but I also know that these two families when coming to the USA did so legally, filling out paperwork and becoming citizens of the US (I have copies).   I also know they were discriminated against but yet they showed the world by working hard in jobs that took advantage of them.

So Hollywood, I appreciate your soft hearts and your want to include everyone but there are laws and rules and I have raised my children to follow them or face the outcome. This applies to adults too and to adults that maybe didn’t make the best decision for their children. I’m sorry for this, I’m sorry they weren’t born to the beautiful country many of us were. In a perfect world we would all agree, love one another and we would all live in a great country like the USA, but it’s not a perfect world. Please put your efforts in to uniting America instead of dividing . Build everyone up instead of tearing them down.

Let’s all work together to make the best out of a bad situation.  Neither candidate should have been president, but that doesn’t mean that WE The People can’t make a better USA!  (One day soon I will post my grandfather’s immigration story it brings me to tears).

I’ve been a contributing member on Quora forums, but I’m giving serious thought to quitting- the posts on Trump border on hysteria- you’d think we elected Hitler. I don’t like Trump, personally, but as an Independent voter, I think he deserves some respect and a chance to govern as President for at least a few more months before passing judgement.

I agree with most of what you said. I too don’t think either candidate should have run for the highest office in the land!
But what is done is all water under the bridge now. I can’t believe how Americans are acting! The whole world is watching how grown adults act like babies. I am not talking about the protesting. I am talking about the damage of others property and the looting! No wonder kids don’t have respect! Look at their role models!!
Let’s bring back the love and stop the shootings – please!

Oh and I’m sorry that I got carried away, but I did want to agree with your opinion about Hollywood! I am sick of hearing their mouths! They do nothing but spout off at the mouth and some use the “award” shows to do it!
I have never liked those things and don’t watch them!! I have better things to do then waste two hours of my life!
Your right! We work hard for our money!
We actually work! We don’t have makeup artists to do our faces in the morning before we go to work or assistants to help us throughout day! Especially to help us memorize our lines! They get paid too much for what they do! It’s our money that helped pay their wages. Maybe we should boycott their movies and show them that we do have a voice also without millions of dollars!

This was a nice change. While I do agree and disagree with this whole article, it’s nice to see someone use their words without belittling those who opions might differ. So thank you.

This could not have been said any better. These are truly my thoughts that I have a hard time expressing on paper. We need to all be praying for our country and working for the best of all. God Bless

I haven’t watched a single award show this season…I don’t need to hear Hollywood’s political views. I watch them to be entertained.

I agree! Hollywood should NOT bring political stuff into their shows or awards!! We have enough of that going around…I want to be entertained not preached at!

Just as not all Democrats think the same or Republicans think the same – neither does “Hollywood” Every American has the right to free speech. I don’t necessarily think that award shows are the proper platform to voice political views, it is however, pretty much “their” platform to use as they see fit. I can’t speak to the work vs pay issue as I have never walked in their shoes – I don’t know what kind of hours they put in or the emotional toll it must take to be someone else for hours at a time, but anyone who has ever worked knows it is always a mixed bag of good and bad. Luckily, I don’t have to pay their salaries – the studios do!
Thank you for the food for thought.
