This weekend Neal and Quinn are camping and gathering life skills. Ian will be working overtime and because he works nights, I’m pretty much on my own. I can honestly say I’m giddy with excitement for a bit of peace and quiet, for some time to spend on myself (NOOOOT!). Yes, I’m going to miss everyone but it’s just for the weekend and I have plans.
The house needs a good cleaning and while the guys are here it’s an almost impossible task. I’m luckier than most because I get their help and while I do appreciate it, it just touches the surface. Our house is dark inside and has very little natural light. It’s a PIA because I would love to have a jungle growing in here but when I bring plants home they can count on it being a death sentence. So taking a look around this morning I realized I’m not helping myself any by displaying things that are in the brown, beige and brick looking color family. I need to add some color, so while I clean up a bit I’m intending to scour the closets and boxes for some color and hopefully it will add a living look to the living room.
So here are my goals for the weekend and crossing my fingers that I get it all done. After all, I really don’t want to push myself too hard on my weekend alone.
Weekend Goals:
- Finish the laundry, every dab of it. Then throw away all unmatched socks. Cause if the laundry is done and there are socks left it’s safe to say I’m not going to find those socks.
- Clean the laundry room, dust, sweep scrub
- Bleach out the dishwasher
- Scrub kitchen counters and wipe down the cupboards
- Sweep and mop mudroom, laundry room, kitchen and dining room
- Dust mantle and find colorful items to add to the Willow Tree Angels
- Take a duster through the house around the ceiling and in the corners
- Wipe light switches
But first I”m off to start dinner. I want to send them off with a nice hot comfy meal. I’m trying a new recipe for homemade Cream of Tomato Soup and will add toasted cheese sandwiches. Sending them off with their tummies full of comfort food makes me smile!
This sounds like you will be busy. Don’t forget to take a little “me” time.
Busy weekend for a woman who has time for herself! I’d be using my free time to take uninterrupted baths, reading most days, and doing whatever I can without interruptions!
Girl some one needs to explain ME TIME! All you plan on doing is working!! Yes it is nice to not have any one under foot but it is nice to make time for yourself! You know some people say you should schedule ME TIME in your planner.
I personally like your list as I sit here peering at the cobwebs on the ceiling in my office that I need to clear away. Yeah, I need to schedule that!
I never get weekends to myself but I do manage to get a little Time for myself during the week, but I usually try to catch some z’s.
Always so much to do. I found some cob webs to clean up. I just can’t pull myself away from this computer. 🙁
Take advantage of the time for me time. I would read that book I have been trying to finish for months, watch a good movie or just rest. Housework will always be there no matter what, free time is few and far between.
At times I would love a weekend to myself but then by Sunday morning, I’m missing my family too much! But if I did have the entire weekend to myself, I would catch up on all of my favorite TV shows, sing while doing dishes and take tons of naps 🙂
There is something so luxurious about having a weekend to yourself… even if you do spend it doing chores!
Weekend are busy here because that’s when our kids and grandkids are always coming over. I would love a weekend to myself.
Awww you all are too sweet! It felt good to have quiet in the house. I don’t think I could stand quiet on a regular basis but a few days was great. I got most of my list done, not all but most.
The thing about laundry is you get get it all done but tomorrow there will be more.
I’m going to have to post the recipe for the tomato soup. It was amazing and everyone liked it. I wish I had found this during lent.
SOunds like you need to throw some fun me time in there too – don’t work your weekend away!
Awesome!
So many women today are busy rushing children to events and never take time for themselves. I say take a book, tea, and go sit in the garden.
I love weekend when I am super productive plus get some ‘me’ time.
I definitely would sleep all weekend
I had 1 month off from work and had similar plans, 1 room a day deep cleaning. Until my husband thought it would be a good time to paint the kitchen..a little bit at a time. So the next time I get a vacation away from work it going to be one room a day..lol
me i might do the clotes hang them and then i do some raft them go out do the yard mow 3 arce which i am not suppose to
so i live lone take care 3 animal and then try tocatch up the blogs
I honestly have no idea what I would do with myself! I am a stay at home mom to three that I also homeschool, so I am never alone or have any free time. I would definitely love to be able to read a good book again. 🙂
hahaha this sounds like me. oi cant even figure out i HAVE time until after it is passed and i end up doing NO me time
These are wonderful goals. I always like to have some alone time and get a lot of projects done. It is a great feeling.
How about some time with your feet up reading a good book?
OMG – I do the same thing when left to my own devices! There is just something about getting those chores done that seem close to impossible when there are other people in the house (like cleaning the ceiling fans).
Thank you! I feel so much better knowing I’m not alone in this crazy practice!
a weekend without kids!! I cant even imagine what I would do. Can I sleep??
Lots of chores. Take time to read a book or relax a little.
I’d probably clean everything and veg out in the tub. Then i’d watch movies online.
I like to include “naps” in me time 🙂
Sounds like you are going to be busy busy busy. I need to schedule a little light cleaning around here so I’m just going to copy your list of things to do. I might actually get something done… or not. LOL Hope you found a little time in that weekend for yourself!
It is always so hard to decide what to do on a free weekend – relax or be productive?
you got to take me time once in a while…. next time add to your to do list — ME TIME
I sometimes get weekends to myself. My grandkids love coming on the weekends.
need to relax. bath with wine.
I’m a grandma nanny to our 5 grandkids … last yr they wanted us to go on vaca with them(ALL) , My Hubby did meet up with them for part of the week but I opted out for a staycation!!!! it was Awesome, I did absolutely nothing for at least 2 days then I started in on MY to do list
This sounds like me. When hubby and the kids are here, it’s nearly impossible to get any deep cleaning done.
What? A great weekend for yourself is not to be wasted on just cleaning! Sure, you can catch up on some of it but here’s the plan: Fix your favorite drink, big tub of popcorn, candy bar, romantic movie. A little 20 minute nap. That’s how you do it. 🙂
I’m doing this same thing, except I finally have a week to myself! I’m beyond excited!
It is always nice to have some time to yourself. I believe it is also important to have some me time by pampering yourself or doing something you cannot usually do. Thank you for sharing this. God Bless
Not sure but I know something will turn up
